Aussie-Gold® Orchid Mix
Ivan Harrison has been growing orchids for many years. He conducted numerous trials with diatomite while formulating a mix that would work in the challenging growing conditions (95+ temperatures and 20% humidity) in his greenhouse in Santee, Ca.
Aussie-Gold® Orchid Mix is based on our diatomite, which is now used more and more by commercial orchid growers worldwide, who have found that orchids grown in diatomite grow and bloom faster than in regular orchids mix.
Aussie-Gold® Orchid Mix augments the proven benefits of diatomite by including other inert and plant-friendly ingredients (NO bark is used in this mix). This mix is 100% organic and highly absorbent. It does not deteriorate or break down like various other mixes and you cannot OVER WATER it! It is non-toxic, ph neutral and provides ‘plant available’ silica. It is a very forgiving mix that can successfully grow plants under diverse watering and growing regiments.
Aussie-Gold® Orchid Mix comes in 4 sizes:
| Regular- this mix is made with medium and fine diatomite and it the most commonly used size which can be used for most orchids as well as hydroponics and house plants. This size is ideal for Cattleyas, Phalaneopsis, and other larger rooted plants. |

| Paph/Phrag- (P/P)- is made with fine and extra fine diatomite and is ideal for the slipper orchids as well as smaller rooted orchids such as Miltonias, Masdavalias, Plurothallids, and others as well as many different house plants such as African Violets. |

| Seedling- is made with extra fine diatomite and is also suited compost, seedlings, as well as for smaller rooted orchids like P/P. |

| Large- is made with large and medium diatomite and it used for Vandaceous and other larger rooted plants as well as specimen plants. |

While Aussie-Gold® Orchid Mix was developed for orchids, its usefulness and applications as a growing medium go far beyond its initial goals.
What else can you use it for?
- African Violets, Bonsai, as well as for all your houseplants
- It is an ideal hydroponics-growing medium. This mix will work in many hydroponics applications, as this mix is 100% organic and highly absorbent. Both Regular and P/P work extremely well.
